Join BBC Worldwide as our new Head of Photography – TV Centre
Reporting in to the Executive Creative Director, this role is pivotal in helping to deliver the creative ambitions of the business. This role will be responsible for the delivery of all publicity photography from Production to BBC Worldwide, and for liaising with the creative team deliver all marketing activity across BBC IP and non BBC IP content.
You will also be responsible for managing the PhotoDam platform and ensuring the delivery of programme photography to service programme deals across all platforms.
Creating and implementing clear working processes to ensure that the photography team is communicating with and working closely with the design/creative team to deliver stunning photography for our premier content campaigns.
Forward planning to ensure that the team is working efficiently in a fast paced industry and is able to respond to the changing needs of the business.
Liaising with BBC and Independent production teams to ensure the timely delivery of photographic materials to BBC Worldwide
Providing after sales photography service to the regional sales teams and international customerd
To advise both BBC and Independent Production of BBC Worldwide’s photography requirements with the aim of delivering the highest quality creative.
Engaging with them at earliest stage of production or pre-production and ensuring the photography supplied meets BBC Worldwide’s editorial and creative requirements
Working with the Creative and Brands Marketing to deliver iconic photographic assets for premium content.
Working with the Digital team on Rights for content lists for VOD and SVOD and DTO platforms.
To work with Creative to advise Content and Production of required materials, providing materials lists according to investment level and in keeping with Programme Marketing’s key prioritisation list
To maintain the department’s editorial standards ensuring selected images are suitable for the After Sales’ service which supports television clients’ publicity campaigns, ensuring the programme’s distinctive qualities are captured
To liaise with BBC WW legal team when required on any copyright issues and to offer advice to other business areas and ensure the photographic team adheres to all copyright agreements. To oversee contractual agreements and photography clauses.
The Ideal Candidate
Strong experience of managing a team and budget, ideally in a broadcasting or publishing environment
In depth knowledge of talented photographers working in the industry
A thorough knowledge of photography and photographic processes and their limitations and an understanding of the storage, manipulation and retrieval of digital imagery
In depth knowledge of photographic copyright laws
Able to challenge the status quo to ensure that new ways of working enable us to adapt to a changing industry.
