PURPOSE OF JOB
The Commercial and Digital Development Division (trading as V&A Enterprises Ltd) is the commercial arm of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Our business is to generate revenue from the V&A brand, collections and exhibitions in London, Britain and across the world. 100% of our profits are returned to the Museum, helping to fund its programme and collections for the future.
Within the C&DD division, the Design team is a central resource working with Retail, Publishing, Licensing and Marketing teams to develop innovative products and packaging, and to promote a wide range of commercial activities.

MAIN TASKS
1. Design and develop surface graphics for own-brand V&A retail products, working to briefs from
Retail Buying and Merchandising. Product categories include stationery, art prints, fashion accessories, clothing, homewares, toys and crafts.
2. Design and develop product packaging and packaging components for own-brand V&A products working to brief from Retail Buying, Merchandising, and Operations teams. Types include boxes, tags, labels, stickers, bags, tissue and wrapping papers.
3. Assist and support product design and development for co-branded V&A retail products, working with the Senior Designer and Retail Buyers, across all product categories.
4. Design print and digital promotional and marketing material for teams across the commercial division. Including adverts, posters, leaflets, catalogues, vouchers, retail display graphics, presentation graphics, trade-fair graphics and social media assets.
5. Distribute commercial branding guidelines and support third party use. Assist the Senior Designer in the development and revision of guideline documents and branding components.
6. Deputise for the Senior Designer where required and provide cover for the Senior role when needed.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential requirements
1. High level of proficiency in the use of Mac OS and key Adobe Creative applications: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Working knowledge of browser based digital marketing platforms.
2. Higher education qualification in Art/Design or related subject area, and/or a minimum of 4 years relevant professional experience
3. Good knowledge of materials, finishes and production techniques for a wide variety of 2D and 3D products
4. Excellent attention to detail, high level of accuracy and meticulous approach
5. Excellent communication skills, visual, vocal and verbal.
6. Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and deliver to deadline under pressure
Desirable requirements
1. Some knowledge of HTML
2. Photography skills, experience of creatively directing photography
3. Experience in Visual Merchandising and/or large format graphics production and installation

OTHER INFORMATION
Hours/Salary: Net working hours (i.e. excluding meal breaks) are 36 per week. The salary for this role will be £27,878 – £33,000 per annum. Salaries are reviewed on an annual basis.
Annual leave: 28 days plus 8 days public holidays
