To celebrate SLAP’s 1st Birthday we are inviting submissions for 6 artists/companies to create guerrilla style performances in public spaces in York, performances and happenings will take place on the 28th/29th of November.

We are looking for dance, live art, theatre and any interesting proposals of live work which will enliven the city of York in celebration of our birthday.
Performances can be brand new, site specific, or existing work which can be easily adapted to be performed in a public space.
SLAP is particularly interested in programming artists and companies who are already using public space in unusual and new ways, or from artists who have the desire to take their work to the streets, parks, shops, fish and chip shops etc.
These performance interventions will be filmed by a selection of local filmmakers during a project which will run parallel, filmmakers will be mentored by Emanuele Pecorari of AlterNative Pictures to create a performance film.
For SLAP’s birthday we will screen the film at a Premier Party at independent cinema and bar 1331 on the 10th of December. The evening will also include live music from SLAP musicians and there is an opportunity to showcase a selection of the performance interventions live throughout the event.
All selected companies and artists will be given a £100 bursary for their involvement. If you are selected to perform on the 10th of December you will receive a further £100 performance fee.
